Hello everyone! Welcome to the 168th issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week, Idyllic has made his triumphant return, and wasted no time getting back to work on the Dogfight, Daft-Cube has continued working on backend systems related to the economy, and Skinny has deployed and should have a bit more free time in the near future. First up is Idyllic, who has gotten right to work uploading all the faction fighters we've posted about over the past few weeks that have unfortunately not been able to be added to the game. Due to unexpected internet connection problems, he wasn't able to upload the ships the week they were announced, but now that he's back at home all should be working now. We thank those of you who have been waiting for your announced faction ships to be added for your patience, sometimes life gets in the way. A few problems with these added ships have also been patched, including scale problems, invisible parts showing through the glass models, and improper access. With the addition of these new ships, RoVerse has officially surpassed the 50 fighters count, landing at a solid 54 ships. We can't wait to see what other awesome content our community comes up with in the future - keep building! Daft-Cube has continued to work on economy systems, and has an open invitation in the community discord for any ideas - its better to take suggestions early in the process rather than later. Currently he is focusing on an API key system to secure our server, and we are proud to announce that RoVerse has officially implemented cloud technology. Not just Veds' computer-melting atmospheric clouds, but real, honest clouds of data all shoved into someone else's computer. I think that's how it works anyway. This week, ManikuCalex tops the leaderboard, with 86 kills to 47 deaths, with a 1.82 KDR. Nice work! His favorite ship was the Estival Excursion and his top weapon was a Laser. Overall, there were 359 kills, a majority of which were from laser turrets - 270. The favorite overall ship was the Excalibur, with 88 kills, followed by the Estival with 56, and the Dervish with 51. The past few weeks have seen a wider variety of ships used, with only Week 9 and it's 18 different ships beating out this week's 13. It's great to see a bit of diversity on the leaderboard, as people are earning enough credits to purchase their recently-added ships. If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Week 11) Each week we compile a Q&A section here whenever there are any new questions posted on the RoVerse Community group wall or in the Community Discord Server. Be sure to join if you have any questions about RoVerse: ROBLOX Group: https://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=2948290 Discord server: https://discord.gg/npxBGwJ Q1: Will you be able to zoom in with Capitals and have free camera movement? A1: That's currently the plan. For fighters, a follow camera made a lot of sense for putting you right in the action, while for Capitals you're commanding from a bit further away, where you can get a better view of the battlefield. So Capitals will be able to freely rotate their camera as they see fit. As for zooming, certain weapons like the railgun may be equipped with a zoom function to make aiming the precision turrets a bit easier, but this may be possible for any ship, with less effect. Q2: Will you be able to chain warp to several systems away with one action? A2: Definitely not. A key point of the game is that you can set up defenses and claim territory within systems - there wouldn't be much point to all that if someone could just bypass it all with the click of a button. The galaxy will have real size to consider - if you're planning an offensive strike you better know the territory between you and your target, lest your fleet be broken upon the rocks. Q3: Will there be specific goals or flags to capture in combat, or a more informal process of attack and defense? A3: The goals of battles are entirely up to you - if you wish to attack and destroy an enemy manufacturing station, that can be your goal. If you just want to take over an empty stretch of barren rock, you can do that too. There will be no terminals to capture or flags to take down, just fleets to destroy and structures to explode. Q4: How do the faction fighter points to stat bars work? Is 5 points 50%? A4: No. Faction ship points increase or decrease stats in a calculated manner, but their display on the ship selection menu does not reflect the points exactly. The percentage bar in the ship menu reflects that ships stats relative to all ships, so logically light fighters have very few bars lit up, and very heavy fighters have most of the bars lit up for health stats, and the opposite for speed, etc. You can support us by joining our Community Group or Discord server!
