RoVerse Roadmap
Since June of '16 we've been hard at work on both the publicly-accessible dogfight and upcoming Capital Update, as well as the myriad of back-end systems and faction functionality for the persistent galaxy-wide conflicts we hope to support. This parallel development system allows us to test the more public-focused aspects of the game, letting players fly their ships through the stars, while also moving forward on the important systems required for the larger game, like factions and system generation.
The ALPHA phase of development has two primary categories - the first is the public Dogfight Alpha that launched RoVerse into the public view, giving players a taste of our unique combat system for fighters, that will be expanded to include Capital ships in the near future. These two categories comprise the majority of ship mechanics required for the full game, so they are an important step towards completion, not a side-track for our developers.
The BETA phase of development includes the much more expansive and as of yet unrivaled mechanics that will make RoVerse unique. When released to the public for testing, these features will represent the beta release, and fulfill the majority of the testing phase as we work towards the full release of the game. As it currently stands, the Planetary Update is intended as an expansion after the full release, so we're not holding back the game to work on unnecessary features for launch.
The Planet Update is slated for a post-release update, as the mechanics of the features are still quite a ways off. We want the galaxy to come to life as soon as possible, and waiting around for extra features doesn't seem like the best plan. If things change, and we're able to release the Planet Update within a short time-frame, it may be a part of the primary release.
