Hello everyone! Welcome to the twelfth issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week! Wow, we've been blown away by the great turnout of entries for the design your own ship manufacturer competition. It's truly remarkable how creative you guys can be and how real the worlds seem in your stories, it's imagination like that which will make RoVerse truly unique! We'll be announcing the winner of the competition near the end of the newsletter. A major achievement was made this week that we won't be soon forgetting - ROBLOX featured a sneak peak of our work on the Dogfight Alpha during this week's Let's Play show and were extremely impressed, judging by their commentary. Slingshotjunkie, the Community Manager of ROBLOX himself, went as far as to say RoVerse is "the most exciting game I've ever been excited for on ROBLOX", now that's what I call high praise! Later on they told us they'd definitely be very interested in sponsoring us again, this alone is a massive win for RoVerse and a big step towards getting officially featured on the blog and ROBLOX site. You can check out their livestream of RoVerse's Dogfight Pre-Alpha here: https://www.twitch.tv/roblox/v/90636343?t=1h22m32s This week we set up a community group for fans of RoVerse to show their support as well as discuss, speculate and ask our developers about upcoming features. If you want to see RoVerse become a reality, join us here! https://www.roblox.com/groups/group.aspx?gid=2948290 Nice progress being made on the ships of RoVerse through these tough starting weeks of school/college. This first one belongs to the same ship line as one of our previous fighters, see if you can work out which it is: Definitely a very tough and intimidating vessel, but not nearly as tough as this next one: This independently produced battleship will be a very difficult warship to acquire in RoVerse and will only be available through constructing it at a player outpost with the necessary shipyard sections. On that note, the full set of designs for the commercial outpost have been completed! Take a look at this magnificent sight of a randomly generated extensively-developed commercial outpost (more like a city at this stage): Along with all these man-made structures and designs, we've also expanded our collection of environment types and we're far from done yet! We plan to have enough environment types that you'll never have a chance to get sick of seeing the same generic rock formation over and over. Plenty of building progress and even more on the scripting side of the project, including Dogfight Alpha TDM/FFA gamemodes as well as on-foot ground combat which we'll have some footage of to show you very soon! As we reach the end of our newsletter, we shall now announce who the development team has voted to be the winner of the competition to design your own ship manufacturer! We had a very difficult time choosing a single winner, there were just so many great entries but in the end we had to narrow it down to one. And the winner is... 'Nyte Manufacturing' by Wolfane! Founded by Alfeus Nyte, a former rebel against the tyrannical government of his home planet. He used his innovative skills in technological science to craft devices capable of exercising guerrilla tactics against the much more numerous force, in the air and on the surface. Following the eventual rebel victory, he founded Nyte Manufacturing. A corporation which came to dominate the market and new democratic system of his home world. He soon after went intergalactic and is rumored to run Nyte Manufacturing from inside the Abyss. POSSIBLE LOGO: http://i.imgur.com/IdSqKXc.png Nyte vehicles major in high speed, high damage, or a mixture of both. Often sacrificing durability as a result. Playing best in specific operations which can include gathering data on enemy stations, outposts, and fleets. Staging devastating attacks or acts of sabotage behind enemy lines on lowly guarded outposts, or even aboard their ships. Often found to use a dark palette with sleek designs. Ensuring visual detection is kept to a minimum chance foremost. FIGHTER CONCEPTS: http://imgur.com/a/3kPaB Nyte weaponry varies into two classes. Compact, concealable, arms with rapid fire for close quarters combat. To high power sniper rifles designed to be utilized from long distances. Paint jobs generally feature jet black bases complemented by deep colors lining a portion of the trim. WEAPON CONCEPTS: http://imgur.com/a/gQcK8 http://imgur.com/a/Abrpj Congratulations Wolfane, your entry had all the makings of an original, immersive element that fits in with the world of RoVerse and will now be included as one of the civilian ship lines in the real game! There were many wonderful entries we received and we'd like to thank every one of you who sent in your ideas. Your creativity is what makes ROBLOX special, it's what makes the clan world so different to guilds on any other MMO, you're the reason RoVerse will be so much fun to experience! Don't forget to join our Community group (www.roblox.com/groups/group.aspx?gid=2948290) or follow our Twitter (www.twitter.com/RoVerse_ROBLOX) and Twitch channel (www.twitch.tv/RoVerse_Official) so you don't miss out on any of our latest RoVerse developments. Thanks everyone for keeping up the support, we'll see you in the Dogfight Alpha soon!
Hello everyone! Welcome to the eleventh issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week! If you missed the tenth issue you can view it here: https://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=198237370 There's only one week left to send your entries for our competition to write the lore of a starship manufacturer corporation from your own imagination to get your chance of winning and seeing your creation in the actual game! Just send a PM to RoVerse_Official with the backstory of your idea along with a picture from Google images of what the corporation's starship designs would look like. We will be posting the winner in next week's newsletter so send your send your entries in before it's too late! Now to our progress on RoVerse development, with it being one of the busiest times of the year for school work, most of us have been weighed down by college/university assignments and tests but it'll take a lot more than that to stop us from getting progress made for you to see! Once again we'll start off with the latest work being done on the guns of RoVerse, this week's manufacturer is of very alien-like background and uses designs that greatly distinguish from the ordinary man-made armaments. Another two shiny new ships thanks to HeroMaster's consistent hard work throughout these busy weeks. Imagine seeing that in the sky at night, almost like something you'd see at Roswell! Quite a large ship, especially in comparison to our next This tiny light fighter is akin to the WWII rocket fighter Me 163, not only in looks but also in its lethality! A zippy little ship like this might not seem tough but when it's flying circles around you, it doesn't matter how many shots its hull can withstand - not when you can't hit it at all! Moving on from small fighter ships we come to the massive shipyards where entire capital class ships are constructed. This one belongs to the commercial variant of player sub-faction outposts, this is where you take your first steps towards building your own personal fleet of warships! And speaking of player outposts, more designs have been constructed of the industrial variant of outposts, this one being the cargo section where you can stockpile all the ores and equipment you collect on your travels: It's a tough time of the year with everyone trying to get settled back into school but we're still kicking and it can only go uphill from here! Remember to send in your competition entries before the next newsletter if you want to have a chance at getting your idea into the lore of the game! Hello everyone! Welcome to the tenth issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week! If you missed the ninth issue you can view it here: https://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=197745824 It's been another great week of progress bringing us one more step closer to the Dogfight Alpha's release. With Voile and Galbotrix joining the team, we now have scripters from many major clans including WIJ and VS helping us to bring the clan world together towards a brighter future! We've got lots to tell you about the lore of corporations in RoVerse and even an opportunity for you to come up with your own ship manufacturer to be in the game's civilian ship line-up. But for now, we'll begin this week's showcase of progress with the first set of hand-held weaponry which consist of a mix of under just 20 bricks and unions (each around 500-700 triangles maximum), making these guns very high performance while maintaining a sleek and clean appearance. As you can see, these guns all share a common design, which is because they belong to the same arms manufacturer. All of the civilian non-clan-specific weapons of RoVerse will generally be designed by specific companies with their own lore/backstory and specific aesthetic and design styles. Next up we have the latest ships added to our fast-expanding collection: Those of you who have been following RoVerse's progress may notice a similar design theme with the first two of these ships. Just like the guns, the civilian ships of RoVerse also have their own manufacturers and backstory If you have a creative imagination you might find *your* ship style joining the fleet with our corporation competition explained at the end of the newsletter! Plenty of scripting work being done with ThePlanckConstant cleaning up and refining the flight mechanics, Opacor setting up the player account and data systems, Voile coding functionality to the shop GUI interface/item info and Ninja integrating ground combat features. Unfortunately a screenshot of a page of code wouldn't be very interesting so you'll just have to wait until the next scripted feature is complete for footag But don't worry, we've got your weekly dose of eye ###d##### set with the next showcase of progress! More speedy work being made on the player outposts of RoVerse, with further sections of the commercial variant completed. Simultaneously constructing the industrial outpost variant for any of you who might like the idea of building your own massive factory complex and conquering the galactic market for ship and equipment production. Finally, we have a challenge for all of you who are interested in expressing your creativity - a competition to write the lore and description of your own ship manufacturer! If you'd like to take part and have a shot at getting your idea into the game then send a PM to RoVerse_Official on ROBLOX with: An original backstory for a corporation that designs and produces starfighters along with a picture of the ship style the corporation would use in their designs, this picture can be from Google images, a movie, anything that has a cool space fighter in it. The winner of the competition will have their idea used for inspiration of one of the civilian ship lines in the finished game, good luck! We've hit ten whole weeks of game development and the time has flown by! RoVerse has grown so tremendously and so rapidly that it has truly gone beyond all expectations I originally had for the project. It's a dream come true for all of us who have long wished for a real world for clans to live in and it's all thanks to your support, thank you all so much. Hello everyone! Welcome to the ninth issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week! If you missed the eighth issue you can view it here: http://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=197200164 This week flew by, feels like last week's newsletter was only yesterday, guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun! An incredible achievement for the RoVerse team - yesterday during ROBLOX's The Next Level stream we were named the Streamer of the Week and over 1300 viewers were told about the (in their own words) promising and high-quality work that we've been working on! Well dome everyone in the RoVerse team who has been dedicating their efforts to streaming and thank you to all of our viewers! We've been keeping up the pace with plenty more building progress even with some of our devs being sick or absent for family, we're still pushing onward! Lots more devs have joined us in our journey, as we welcome to our team IdyllicDestroyer, Ninja900500, ArcticCitadel, GGGGG14 and Ripint! More new ship designs, fresh out of the oven! This first one was actually chosen by our Twitch stream viewers in chat: You can see the ship manufacturer's logo to the left of it, we'll be going into more detail about them in a later newsletter so keep an eye out! And there's plenty more where that came from: (Reavers, anyone?) A massive capital-class fighter carrier that will probably be seen as a hulking wreck in the upcoming Dogfight Alpha: Speaking of which, check out the control point for the planned king-of-the-hill mode of the alpha: Idyllic has been making fantastic progress on the player outposts that independent pilots can purchase and construct throughout the galaxy: These outposts will consist of a modular sections that the owners can purchase and combine into their prefered combinations to best serve the purpose of their specific station. As for the clan-owned stations, Vido_Santiago has been very busy with school finals but regardless he's managed to finish off the eqipment dealer in style: We also have a new wreck for our Dogfight Alpha debris field map, some of you might recognise its design: But it's not just the builders who have been busy, ThePlanckConstant has been working with every minute of free time he gets and has completed a new feature for us to show you: Ever wanted to re-enact Star Wars Episode II and drop a few seismic charges of your own? In RoVerse you can! These deployable mines will give combat a very interesting dynamic and ensure only the most perceptive aces get back home in one piece! All of our other scripters including Fractality, Opacor, Archaic, GGGGG and Ninja have each been working on their individual assigned areas of development which we'll keep you updated on as they hit their milestones! That just about wraps up this week's newsletter, thank you all for your continual support! We hope you enjoyed getting a look at our latest work and we hope you'll join us over on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/roverse_official or follow our Twitter at twitter.com/RoVerse_ROBLOX to see the latest developments of RoVerse! |
