Hello everyone! Welcome to the 284th issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week, we've been celebrating Christmas, with the community rewards from the event being distributed to those who have completed the various quests at Hyperion. These rewards will be available until January 10th, so get to delivering those gifts and brewing those drinks while the event is still on. On the development side this week, Idyllic took aim at a few bugs that have been plaguing the dogfight. First up is a small fix to spawn location selection - the original code specifically picks a spawn location from exactly 8 options in a folder in the map. No more, no less. This has caused issues a few times in the past, where a spawn location would be missing and the game would come screeching to a halt. Now, with the help of a small addition to the code, it selects a random location from any number of locations in that folder, not just 8. Also, a bit of variance has been added to the location, spreading it out from a single point. No more spawning inside someone else who just respawned! This also provides the added benefit that spawns can be dynamically added and removed while a round is active, which will be important when you can respawn on friendly capitals. Next up was a look into outpost clipping issues, where two or more modules would clip through each other during generation, causing turrets to be inside other modules and unreachable. Idyllic dove into the code, tweaked a few variables, and modified a few module hitboxes, and ran quite a few large-scale tests to make sure that there were no more issues. Last up is a patch to filter sorting, where a table was being shallow-copied and editing the list of all light fighters, for example, to include other filter selections, which led to a severe breakdown in the filtering abilities. Now that the 10 lines of code deep-copy a table, filters should be working correctly in the beta. We hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas, and we wish you a happy new year as well. See you next year! This week in the dogfight there were 42 kills, 6 with auto, 9 with beam, 5 with laser, 0 with plasma, 0 with railgun, and 22 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the VSa1-1_Kazan with 22 kills, followed by the Excalibur with 19. The most dangerous map was Pillarum with 25 deaths, followed by Blue_Spaceway with 15. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were FangABXY, with 22 kills and 0 deaths and a N/A KDR; wegbhap with 13 kills, 0 deaths and a N/A KDR; and EfanNatanaels with 4 kills, 0 deaths, and a N/A KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Stormfront Armaments Hercules in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! Hello everyone! Welcome to the 283rd issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week is rather festive, as Christmas is upon us once again. This year, we've put together a small holiday event to celebrate our community. The RoVerse Team is proud to present, in collaboration with ObscureVisage and the Community: Hyperion Holidays is a small event designed to bring the community together and celebrate the holidays, with fun, drinks, and a gift exchange. Complete the event, and you'll receive a few small baubles put together by members of the community. An adventure around Hyperion Station awaits! Have fun! Gifts will open at Christmas and event will close after New Years. A1: Contrary to popular belief, no one keeps a record of the naughty or niceness of children since Santa Claus was lost off the Shoulder of Orion during the interdimensional wars. But in honor of his memory, I hope everyone has been nice, just to be safe. You can support us by joining our Community Group or Discord server! Hello everyone! Welcome to the 282nd issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week saw further development of the Hangar, with the addition of a functioning elevator system for easy travel between levels, as well as a randomized loading system, that picks 126 ships at random to display, loads them into each bay, and also adds their stats to a hologram. Come find your favorite ship today! Good news - after a bit of delay due to Union troubles, the Stormfront Armaments Hercules is finally available in the dogfight. If you've been a leaderboard winner the past few cycles, stop by the event sort and grab your free copy. This week in the dogfight there were 138 kills, 7 with auto, 0 with beam, 15 with laser, 0 with plasma, 4 with railgun, and 112 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the VSa1-1_Kazan with 94 kills, followed by the Chariot with 17. The most dangerous map was Blue_Spaceway with 80 deaths, followed by Pillarum with 33. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were FangABXY, with 102 kills and 18 deaths and a 5.66 KDR; devOmegax with 35 kills, 8 deaths and a 4.37 KDR; and Outpost with 0 kills, 111 deaths, and a 0 KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Stormfront Armaments Hercules in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! Small armed drones in a module? Like fighters but everything (save maneuverability) is downscaled to be easily sub-transonic and weak to small arms fire? A1: An interesting concept for ground warfare, that we could certainly look into unlocking for research points. I'm imagining them functioning as remote-guided missiles piloted by the player instead of something autonomous, but they could certainly add a bit of variety to combat. Imagine flying a recon drone over a mountain range to target-select artillery, or a high-altitude flight to scout unfamiliar terrain features. An excellent consumable suggestion. Hello everyone! Welcome to the 281st issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week was quite hectic for the team, with real-life getting in the way, but we have put together a little something for the community to tide you over. A while ago we showed off a concept for a full-scale ship hangar, where you could go see all the ships in RoVerse at the size of the player, and admire the detail work. We've wrapped up the background and ship portions, and we'll be opening this up to the community today. We haven't quite gotten all the features implemented that we'd like, like a way to automate adding more ships, and holograms showing ship stats, but it's in a good enough state to explore a bit. Drop on by and see what ships are the coolest up close. https://www.roblox.com/games/8187298148/RoVerse-Dogfight-Hangar And let us know if there are any other features you'd like to see. This week in the dogfight there were 39 kills, 13 with auto, 1 with beam, 0 with laser, 0 with plasma, 0 with railgun, and 25 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the Chariot with 23 kills, followed by the Model_66_MCV with 9. The most dangerous map was The_Great_Hollow with 38 deaths, followed by Blue_Spaceway with 2. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were devOmegax, with 23 kills and 2 deaths and a 11.5 KDR; PreadaterX51 with 10 kills, 0 deaths and a N/A KDR; and FangABXY with 4 kills, 1 deaths, and a 4 KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Stormfront Armaments Hercules in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! A1: Many dark unknowns lie in the silence beyond the heliopause, that even the most daring do not wish to disturb. Some say that physics itself breaks down in that desolate void, and that things you cannot comprehend could obliterate you at any time. And somewhere, as tiny as a mote of dust, is tygry's ship, trying to get the furthest kill ever recorded. You can support us by joining our Community Group or Discord server!
