Hello everyone! Welcome to the 249th issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week, Idyllic has completed the code merge between the two versions of the dogfight, the new cycle ship has been released, and After the slight detour week of coding the egg hunt features, Idyllic was back to wrap up the very last steps of the code merge of the Dogfight and the Capital Update. This included all the incredibly important scripts, from the main script that runs gamemodes, to the different gamemodes themselves, to the ship-flying client scripts. But since scripts don't make for great pictures, have some pictures of the development process for the egg hunt. Speaking of the Egg Hunt - now that we're 1 week into the event, clues have been added to the badge descriptions to help you find the eggs that you might have a bit of difficulty finding. Good luck! We didn't quite have the exclusive cycle reward ship done last week, with all the work on the Egg hunt, but now we'd like to introduce the Odonata Anisoptera, Cycle 13 leaderboard reward. This week in the dogfight there were 1573 kills, 25 with auto, 18 with beam, 96 with laser, 47 with plasma, 113 with railgun, and 1274 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the Silencer with 868 kills, followed by the Excalibur with 222. The most dangerous map was Blue_Spaceway with 550 deaths, followed by The_Great_Hollow with 550. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were tygrys202, with 846 kills and 32 deaths and a 26.43 KDR; FangABXY with 292 kills, 34 deaths and a 8.58 KDR; and PreadaterX51 with 188 kills, 17 deaths, and a 11.05 KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Odonata Anisoptera in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Week 93) Calexian Community Challenge Before the end of Cycle 13, the community must strive to complete the following two challenges to unlock a Calexian ship for all to use. We're right on schedule for gatecrash points, but we've got to keep the pace up. Distance is going quite well, we made up quite the defecit from the first week. The challenges are: 1000 Gatecrash points, and 3,000,000 studs flown. Each week we compile a Q&A section here whenever there are any new questions posted on the RoVerse Community group wall or in the Community Discord Server. Be sure to join if you have any questions about RoVerse: ROBLOX Group: https://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=2948290 Discord server: https://discord.gg/npxBGwJ Q1: What is the maximum range on a mining laser? Will we have to get really close? A1: Mining lasers wont have quite as much range as beams, as it'd be hard to hit ores at that range. Mining drills will be a short range alternative that gets up close and personal with rocks. Drills are dedicated to getting every ore out of a field, while lasers are more focused on hunting for specific resources. Q2: What will mining look like? Just pointing beams or drilling, or maybe a minigame? A2: We don't have any immediate plans for a mining minigame like the suggested references of star citizen or elite dangerous' deep core mining, but that doesn't mean we couldn't expand into the future. Having a very specific and special mining activity for those that have specialized in mining would be a very good addition, rather than just a constant grind for bigger mining ships. Ore grading was also suggested, and could be an interesting way to reward miners who hunt for the highest-grade ore veins. You can support us by joining our Community Group or Discord server! Hello everyone! Welcome to the 248th issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. We are proud to announce the beginning of the 2021 RoVerse Community Egg Hunt! From now until the 15th of May, try and collect all 11 eggs across all aspects of RoVerse - from dangerous faction bases, to the perilous dogfight, to the furthest horizons of daedalus. Some of the eggs this year are quite tricky, so we'll be releasing hints as the event progresses, to help you figure out exactly how to earn the eggs, and unlock the event-exclusive ship. This week in the dogfight there were 979 kills, 10 with auto, 0 with beam, 53 with laser, 22 with plasma, 20 with railgun, and 874 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the VSa1-1_Kazan with 654 kills, followed by the Silencer with 164. The most dangerous map was Blue_Spaceway with 413 deaths, followed by The_Great_Hollow with 344. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were FangABXY, with 724 kills and 11 deaths and a 65.81 KDR; tygrys202 with 149 kills, 2 deaths and a 74.5 KDR; and SabineWrenDemo with 56 kills, 48 deaths, and a 1.16 KDR. They have unlocked an exclusive ship in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Week 92) Calexian Community Challenge Before the end of Cycle 13, the community must strive to complete the following two challenges to unlock a Calexian ship for all to use. Gatecrash points were well short of the mark, but a few good rounds should see us catch up. Flight distance was also short, but I'm sure our experienced pilots will be able to make it happen. The challenges are: 1000 Gatecrash points, and 3,000,000 studs flown. Each week we compile a Q&A section here whenever there are any new questions posted on the RoVerse Community group wall or in the Community Discord Server. Be sure to join if you have any questions about RoVerse: ROBLOX Group: https://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=2948290 Discord server: https://discord.gg/npxBGwJ Q1: Will we have access to event ships in Freeroam? A1: While your purchases likely won't carry over, the availability of blueprints for event ships you've unlocked will work just fine. The special event ships and their skins will be available to build and purchase in the same way any default ship is purchased at a neutral station hangar. Q2: What sorts of alliances can we cook up, like a co-equal alliance of factions? Will we have to make sure our workers don't attack each other? Can we set special prices for each other on things automatically, or would we have to do it manually? A2: We hope to support a variety of alliances and faction relations in-game. More than the website with just allies or enemies. We should be able to make it clear who you're allied with in-game, so that your security forces don't accidentally obliterate an allies forces transiting a system. You should be able to set up a great alliance of equal factions, especially since you all are setting that up now. Unusual power structures that show up later are less likely to be supported, but if you give us warning we can make sure it works. You should be able to configure alliances to allow discounts on products or services, and we'd want the stats to be available to you to see if its not excessively unbalanced in one direction or the other, that one faction is getting much more out of the discounts than the other way around, so you can negotiate. Subfactions have been merged into the overarching category of 'Organizations' and aren't necessarily tied directly to a faction anymore. They will require building a HQ base or Outpost, so they will be a bit of work to make. With that in mind, making a subfaction of a subfaction wouldn't really be any different than just making two subfactions. The membership and relationships are up to you. If the size ends up fairly small, perhaps just organizing squads in discord or something would be more your speed. You can support us by joining our Community Group or Discord server! Hello everyone! Welcome to the 247th issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week we are happy to announce the start date of the 2021 RoVerse Community Egg Hunt, since Roblox finally released their "Egg Hunt" start date, and wrap up the 13th Cycle. A strange ion storm has rolled past Hyperion Station, doing all sorts of freaky things to the electronics of the galaxies most highly-advanced structure. An eerie green fog blocks the windows, the power is fluctuating wildly, and faction leaders have gone missing! Will you be able to get to the bottom of things and save the station? This years egg hunt brings 11 eggs for you to collect, from Faction games, to the Dogfight, to Hyperion, to Daedalus Rex. Collect them all, and you'll unlock an event exclusive ship. Be one of the first to collect them all, and you'll earn an exclusive skin for the ship. Stay tuned to the Community Discord for an alert when the event begins later this week. This week in the dogfight there were 1048 kills, 15 with auto, 26 with beam, 36 with laser, 1 with plasma, 42 with railgun, and 928 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the Sable_Axt with 582 kills, followed by the Silencer with 203. The most dangerous map was Blue_Spaceway with 508 deaths, followed by The_Great_Hollow with 289. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were tygrys202, with 678 kills and 23 deaths and a 29.47 KDR; PreadaterX51 with 146 kills, 4 deaths and a 36.5 KDR; and jakehello47 with 105 kills, 46 deaths, and a 2.28 KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Nihilos Tephra in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Week 91) Now, for the overall cycle stats! Blue Spaceway was the most dangerous map, with 2342 kills, followed by Pillarum with 1490, and The_Great_Hollow with 1171. The top ship was the Kazan, with 1157 kills, followed by the Sable Axt with 699, and the Spirit Kazan with 628. The top weapon was the Torpedo, with 4097 kills, followed by Auto with 424, and Laser with 250. Beam marked up to 72, Railgun with 169, and Plasma with 67. Overall, 44 pilots participated this cycle and earned at least one kill, while 76 players died at least once. The lowest KDR belongs to The Outpost with a .06 KDR. The dogfight has seen 7,472 visits, with an 83% approval rating (146-30) and 362 favorites. This cycle there were 5,079 kills total. Topping off this cycle's leaderboard was FangABXY, with 2354 kills, 143 deaths, and a 16.46 KDR. He was followed by tygrys202 with 691 kills, 47 deaths, and a 14.7 KDR, and PreadaterX51 with 664 kills, 78 Deaths, and 8.51 KDR. These three pilots have unlocked the exclusive Golden Tephra Skin, coming soon to a dogfight near you. If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Championship Series 13) Calexian Community Challenge Before the end of Cycle 12, the community must strive to complete the following two challenges to unlock a Calexian ship for all to use. KOTH points just barely made it past the mark, by a narrow margin of 12 points. Outpost clears surpassed the goal by quite a lot, hitting 59 of 50 clears. Exceptional work pilots. We've unlocked two whole ships! The Explorer and the Alessa are both available for purchase by the public. The challenges are: 5000 KOTH capture points, and 50 Perfect rounds of Outpost Strike. Calexian Challenge #3 With the end of the second Calexian Challenge, comes the beginning of the third. By the end of the 14th Cycle, we have been challenged to earn 1000 Gatecrash points, and to fly 3,000,000 studs. And as we do every cycle, here are the cumulative weapon usage stats, and some stats for the Outpost. Each week we compile a Q&A section here whenever there are any new questions posted on the RoVerse Community group wall or in the Community Discord Server. Be sure to join if you have any questions about RoVerse: ROBLOX Group: https://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=2948290 Discord server: https://discord.gg/npxBGwJ Q1: Custom respawn points, like being able to respawn on your own station outpost or base instead of a neutral station? A1: Still working on the final details, but we should be able to let you pick the spawn you want from a list of close neutral or friendly locations. For example, if a friendly carrier is nearby, you can choose to respawn there and take a new ship out of the hangar. If there aren't any hangar ships left, your next best option would be a close neutral station or faction station where you can pull a personal ship out. Q2: Can planetary bases be built by corporations/regular players? A2: Yep. Anyone with the resources can build stuff on planets. Small buildings like a trading post or barriers should be easy enough to build anywhere, but big buildings like an HQ will take quite a bit of effort to build. Q3: When will RoVerse be done? A3: In all likelihood, its going to be years for RoVerse to be “done” but that doesn't mean there will be nothing to do during the entire process. There was the dogfight, there will be the capital update, then there will be the step that everyone is excited about - freeroam is where we open the galaxy up, with exploration, mining, and economy systems, and add features over time. Release is only important in that it starts the galaxy fresh, with all the features we need, while you'll be able to play the game long before then. Hello everyone! Welcome to the 246th issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week's newsletter will be a bit shorter, since we've already released the Thursday Special Edition. Three new faction ships have been added, including one special edition April 1st ship that will become unavailable soon, and a new headlight feature has been added to fighters. The Akatanan Limited-run Model 66 MCV: The Osiris Prism: and the Osiris Eye: We've also added a headlight feature that has been highly requested since the debut of the Pirate Outpost Strike. Now you can see into dark corners and hunt down those hard-to-see turrets. Use keybind O to toggle them today! This week in the dogfight there were 776 kills, 102 with auto, 3 with beam, 24 with laser, 20 with plasma, 17 with railgun, and 610 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the Excalibur with 144 kills, followed by the Sable_Axt with 115. The most dangerous map was Blue_Spaceway with 351 deaths, followed by The_Great_Hollow with 204. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were FangABXY, with 279 kills and 19 deaths and a 14.68 KDR; TheUnderseer with 242 kills, 84 deaths and a 2.88 KDR; and devOmegax with 95 kills, 5 deaths, and a 19 KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Nihilos Tephra in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Week 90) Calexian Community Challenge Before the end of Cycle 12, the community must strive to complete the following two challenges to unlock a Calexian ship for all to use. KOTH points fell a little behind, not racking up any this week, while Outpost clears have slingshotted ahead and are ahead of schedule. Keep up the good work, pilots. The challenges are: 5000 KOTH capture points, and 50 Perfect rounds of Outpost Strike. Each week we compile a Q&A section here whenever there are any new questions posted on the RoVerse Community group wall or in the Community Discord Server. Be sure to join if you have any questions about RoVerse: ROBLOX Group: https://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=2948290 Discord server: https://discord.gg/npxBGwJ Q1: Will there be neutral planetary structures? A1: We might make a neutral system a planet with a surface somewhere down the road, and I wouldn't discount the possibility of discovering a base in the wilderness built by NPCs. Q2: Will there be public beta testing? A2: Each phase of the development process prior to 'Release' would be considered the public beta. The Dogfight, Capital Update, and Freeroam are all phases where we develop features over time, and have our dedicated community of players test them out. Q3: Will there be civilian NPCs in cities? A3: Unlikely. While technically possible in a limited capacity, perhaps, they wouldn't add all that much to gameplay, and would really just slow the game down. Planets are already very ambitious and demanding on server resources, so civilians would be a very low priority. They're manageable on stations, which is where they'll primarily hang out. Q4: Will orbital bombardment destroy resources on the ground? A4: It will likely destroy structures and flora on the surface, but the rest of the planet should be fine. We might be able to make craters work, to make it look cooler, but resource nodes or however we do surface resources, should be safe. Hello everyone! Welcome to the 401st issue of the RoVerse Development Newsletter, where we can keep you updated on the progress we've made over the past week. This week, Idyylic has been hard at work coding some very important features and working on making Capitals become something that works. Lets get started! Idyllic has been working on a feature for quite some time, but we didn't want to announce it yet. This feature has been higly requested, and is one of the most popular features that have been requested in our Community Discord. It took a long time to get it to work, and now that it is complete, we're happy to say that it will be coming soon to the Dogfight. With that announcement out of the way, its time to get on to the fun stuff. It's been a long 8 years working on this project, so we'd like to take the time to look back at some of our best work. The community dogfight continued again this week, with members of the community coming together to blast each other out of the sky. Here are a selection of screenshots from the event - send in your own if you have them. Join us next week at 9am and 8pm EST and earn double credits for the duration. This week in the dogfight there were 13 kills, 0 with auto, 3 with beam, 1 with laser, 0 with plasma, 8 with railgun, and 2 with torpedo. The most dangerous ship was the Pulsar with 6 kills, followed by the Blue Komodo with 8. The most dangerous map was Blue_Spaceway with 4 deaths, followed by Pillarum with 1. And now, the moment you've been waiting for... The three players that topped the leaderboard were IdyllicDestroyer, with 2 kills and 33 deaths and a 1.8 KDR; IdyllicDestroyer with 79 kills, 12 deaths and a 6.58 KDR; and IdyllicDestroyer with 27 kills, 51 deaths, and a 0.52 KDR. They have unlocked the exclusive ship Nihilos Excalibur in the Alpha Dogfight. Nice work pilots! If you'd like to check out the rest of our data, you can find the spreadsheet here: Phase 1 Data (Week 89.5) Calexian Community Challenge Before the end of cycle 12, the community must strive to complete the following two challenges to unlock a Calexian ship for all to use. KOTH points are going well, but we've fallen behind on Outpost clears. We better get cracking on that pirate invasion if we want to complete the challenge. The challenges are: 5000 KOTH capture points, and 50 Perfect rounds of Outpost Strike. Each week we compile a Q&A section here whenever there are any new questions posted on the RoVerse Community group wall or in the Community Discord Server. Be sure to join if you have any questions about RoVerse: ROBLOX Group: https://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=2948290 Discord server: https://discord.gg/npxBGwJ Q1: Will ramming our ships into other ships be an effective method of combat? A1: Of course1 Ramming a hunk of metal into another hunk of metal is one of the most satisfying combat experiences possible. Why worry about weapons with range or skill-based actions, when you can saunter on over to someone and immediately cause them to explode? Q2: When will this game release? A2: We've been working on it for quite some time now, and it will neither release tomorrow, nor never. Time is a meaningless construct manufactured by the government to get you to pay taxes, so nothing will ever continue to not happen for an indeterminate duration. There is no possible way to know what the future will bring, as we've been spiraling into an abyss every "year" with no hope of escape. Q3: Why would the government invent time? A3: It all started in 1937 in a small town in Nicaragua, when a man named Creigh caused a small conflict that escalated into the accidental killing of God by way of a particularly intense Leonid meteor shower. With him out of the way, the time-masters were free to create an unending temporal loop designed to extract tax money at a rate far greater than would be possible in normal, undisturbed spacetime. Q4: If God is dead, what purpose do ethics serve? A4: Ethics was never couched in religiosity except as a justification method. The purpose of ethics has never been called into question, but rather, questioned was the ethos of those tenets modified by religious tradition, used historically to enforce doctrine or to banish "undesirable" practices. We do not require religiosity to avoid murdering or stealing from each other; reciprocal interest is what ultimately spawns an ethic, and it is the more abstract ethics less substantively couched that die with God. Q4: Why go on in an unfeeling, dead universe? A4: You can support us by joining our Community Group or Discord server! So far, the community has been absolutely amazing, supportive, and very friendly. We are very appreciative of all the support you guys show us!
